Harwood Publishing Book Cover Design

Working closely alongside Bristol based printers Quay Digital as well as publishers Harwood Publishing, I designed this book cover for “From Cluny to the Camps”.

The book tells the stories of the residents of Cluny during the Nazi occupation in WW2, so it was vital to capture the correct tone in the design of the cover.

The main cover photo underwent a large amount of retouching to remove any modern day elements from it (such as cars, bollards and lamposts) and the use of the photo of the French Resistance in the background aims to bring the personal and human element of the book’s subject matter to the cover design.
